• About Us

  • Special Branch Tree Services, based between Oakham and Stamford, was founded in 2015 by Tom Udale. His interest in tree work and in becoming a Tree Surgeon was motivated after being awarded a scholarship in 2012 to work for Burghley House Forestry Department, where he gained qualifications to operate various types of equipment.

Tom went on to be trained further by Andrew Campbell, a former European logging champion sponsored by Husqvarna.

Special Branch has gone from strength to strength due to Tom's commitment to providing a professional customer experience. His testimonials substantiate his core values:

Meeting and exceeding client expectations, completing projects to the satisfaction of everyone and being professional and reliable with an eye on safety at all times.

Special Branch has the latest arboricultural equipment including chipper, stump grinder, trailers, JCB mini digger with grab and a host of chainsaws and hand tools. His team follow his example of efficient, tidy, polite and professional working practices. Operating to BS 3998, Tom is First Aid trained and and all his equipment is Loler inspected.

The growing client base across Rutland, Lincolnshire, East Midlands, East Anglia and beyond includes small and large projects from local residents and developers to sub contracting into Anglian Water, BBC, HMRC, Morrisons, Sainsbury's, Amazon etc. For local residents Tom will complete tree work planning applications on their behalf.
